What is sexuality?
Sexuality is also about love, intimacy, and relationships. Our sexuality is affected by a combination of biological, psychological, and social conditions.
We are all born with a sexual disposition. You might say that we all have a potential sexuality in us, but that it is not certain that it will manifest itself the way we expect. Our sexuality develops over the course of our lives.
Not all intimacy is sexual. For example, a child may well experience love and ordinary kisses and hugs from their parents, but children don’t have a sexuality in the adult sense. And they don’t want sex.
Here, we become aware of our sexuality and begin to associate it with sexual pleasure. Our sexuality can change throughout the course of our life. For example, one’s sexual fantasies may change.
There are several things that affect how we function sexually and what we are attracted to. There are biological factors, and there are psychological and social conditions. What we experience throughout life, what we see on TV, movies and digital media - it all affects our sexuality.
